"Spring is going really good for us," said Hawkins. "We are working hard and getting better as a team.
"I feel like we're going to have a good season.
"I am having a good spring. I am just trying to do all I can to be a better player."
The spring evaluation period has brought several college coaches to Carver High to see Hawkins and his teammates in action.
"We still have all of this week and next week before we have our spring game, so I know there are going to be a lot more schools coming to the game."
The three star prospect holds over a dozen offers including nine from the Southeastern Conference.
Hawkins expects that number to grow over the course of the next few weeks.
"I feel like Georgia Tech and Florida State might be the next schools to offer me," said Hawkins. "There are some other schools that haven't offered that have been showing me some interest."
Geography may prove to be a factor in Hawkins' ultimate decision, but he reports that it will not be a major issue.
"I am liking all of the schools that have offered me," said Hawkins. "I have looked at some of the out of state schools like Tennessee and Mississippi State and I like what they have had to say.
"I know they are a long way from home, but I know if you go there, that they will take care of you and treat you like a son."
Hawkins reports that he is still considering all of the programs that have shown him some level of interest and that he is not ready to eliminate any contenders.
"Everybody is still even with me," said Hawkins. "I am just looking at everybody right now.
"I don't know when I am going to decide, but I know I am going to be looking at the depth chart of each school.
"I want to go somewhere that I have the chance to play early and to be part of a family."
