New Offer Impresses Hooper

The Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive end/linebacker, Austin Hooper, picks up a big national offer...

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive end/outside linebacker Austin Hooper got his 17th offer on Tuesday.

And this was one Hooper wasn't really expecting.

"I got offered by Notre Dame," said Hooper. "This is definitely a huge offer. It was kind of a surprise."

Most of the Pac-12 has offered Hooper, only USC, UCLA and Stanford haven't, and he's gotten attention from all over the country, but the Irish are the biggest national offer he's received to date.

The versatile Hooper, who plays defensive end and tight end for the Spartans, said Coach Mike Denbrock offered and specified what position they like him for.

"Coach Denbrock offered me for outside linebacker in a 3-4," said Hooper.

Hooper said he's now planning to take an unofficial visit to South Bend and will take an official visit to Notre Dame in the fall.

Arizona, Arizona State, Army, Boise State, California, Colorado, Houston, Nevada, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Purdue, San Jose State, Utah, Washington and Washington State have now all offered Hooper.
