2013 Intro: Hernando (Fla) CB

Tyrail Hawkins is a talented two-way player from Hernando High so lets take a closer look at him as a prospect.

Name: CB Tyrail Hawkins

School: Hernando HS (Brooksville, Fla)

Size: 5-11/180

2011 season stats: Hawkins finished his junior season with 23 tackles and two interceptions. He also added over 1,200 yards rushing, over 300 receiving, and scored 19 total touchdowns.

Grades: 2.8 GPA/no test yet

Recruiting: "My favorite college team growing up was Florida," Hawkins said. "My top five college choices are Miami, UCF, Georgia, USF, and Duke."

"I have an offer from Georgia Southern," he said. "I will look to see if me and the coach get along really good and how many people the have at my position and how will school life be because I'm there to get my education first then football."

As a Prospect: Hawkins was extremely productive as a junior last season -- on both sides of the ball. As a running back, he has good instincts, enough speed and quickness to make things happen on the outside, and he's also a skilled pass-catcher. However, it's on defense where his biggest upside lies. He has good natural cover skills. He's a good athlete with plus ball skills. And he has the size college coaches look for already. He has BCS-level skills on defense and it's probably only a matter of time before he collects those types of offers.
