Bakas: News and Notes around Florida

Here are some news and notes on several prospects from around the state of Florida, based on what they're telling us.

* Reggie Wilkerson committed to Georgia last month but he's still being actively recruited by other schools. He told us that Mississippi State offered him today, a sign that other SEC schools aren't ready to give up on the talented defensive back from North Marion High. Wilkerson remains a solid commitment to the Bulldogs though.

* Adrian Baker picked up an offer from Oklahoma today. At 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, the Chaminade Madonna standout has become one of the most heavily recruited defensive backs in South Florida. He also has offers from schools like Florida State, Florida, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. He was hoping to announce his commitment this week but those plans may now be on hold.

* Tony Guerad picked up his first BCS offer today when Cincinnati came through with one. At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Guerad is a talented pass rusher from Tampa Bay Tech High. FIU, Ohio, and Middle Tennessee were his first three offers.

* Joey Ivie has quickly become one of the most heavily recruited defensive linemen in the state of Florida. With offers from the Big 3 and many more, the Pasco High standout is in the middle of spring football now. His father told us today that he plans on taking unofficial visits next month to Tennessee, Georgia, Clemson, and Auburn. At 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Ivie landed offer 19 today, from Ole Miss.

* Marquez Valdes picked up his first BCS offer today, when Iowa State came calling. At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, the St. Pete Lakewood standout had previously collected seven Division 1 offers.
