First Offer for Goggin

The first offer is finally in the books for Lakes Community (Ill.) linebacker A.J. Goggin. He talks with Fox Sports Next about that offer and his plans heading into the summer.

Just call it an end-of-the-school-year gift -- 2013 Lakes Community (Ill.) linebacker prospect A.J. Goggin received his first scholarship offer to join the tradition of Air Force Academy Football. After a long recruiting season, the call was just what he needed.

"It feels amazing to star to see the hard work pay dividends," Goggin said.

The offer, admittedly, took him somewhat by surprise.

"I had an idea it might come." Goggin said, "but I didn't think it would be before my visit."

Even without the visit, Falcons coaches know how they want to utilize Goggin.

"Coach [Jake] Moreland said I would be playing a weak side linebacker that focuses on rushing the quarterback and sealing the edge," he said.

Goggin plans to show his stuff in person at camp at Air Force this summer long with Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue. And the offer puts him in a good position heading to camp.

"It's going to benefit me greatly because I will be going in with confidence which will allow me to perform better," Goggin said.
