Freshman All-American Gets First Offer

The Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian 2015 lineman, Reno Rosene, got his first offer on Wednesday night...

Though he's yet to finish his freshman year of high school, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian offensive lineman Reno Rosene (6-6, 300), has a bright future ahead.

While he thought he would be a couple of years away from getting his first offer, it came much earlier than he ever expected.

On Wednesday evening, after spring practice, the 2011 Freshman All-American got the news he'd always hoped he'd hear, but didn't expect so soon.

"I received an offer from Notre Dame after practice," said Rosene. "It came out of nowhere."

Irish assistant coaches Chuck Martin and Mike Denbrock were by the Oaks campus earlier in the day and Martin stuck around to watch the Lions' spring workouts.

And Martin saw plenty to like in Rosene.

"It was the offensive coordinator, Coach Martin, who offered. I knew they were there but I practiced how I always do," said Rosene. "They said it was my intensity and leadership that made them pull the trigger."

Rosene said the offer just motivates him further.

"It feels like this off season paid off. I am so excited right now. I'm not going to be able to sleep," said Rosene. "But I I know it's going to be my sophomore year and I need to work harder than I ever have in my life."

Rosene's teammate, 2014 quarterback Brandon Dawkins, was also offered by Notre Dame on Wednesday. Oaks offensive coordinator Casey Clausen, is the older brother of former Oaks and Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen.

Brandon is in his eighth year with and FOXSportsNext, currently as a National Recruiting Analyst and West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout Network since 2003.
