UA 7Seven Houston: Alfred Pullom

Fox Sports Next has the update on Cy Woods defensive back Alfred Pullom from Houston, Texas. Recently, he participated in the Under Armour 7Seven tournament. While there, he gave Fox Sports Next a recruiting update…

In the last Fox Sports Next update with Houston (TX) Cypress Woods safety Alfred Pullom there was a feeling from him that offers were soon to come. It's obvious that his belief and play-making ability proved itself right.

This past week, Pullom pulled in four offers.

"I got four offers this past week. I got one from Arkansas and got three Thursday from Duke, Wake Forest and McNeese State so recruiting is starting to pick up for me," Pullom said.

Now the 6-foot-1, 187-pound Pullom has that off his back. He has some schools that want to add him to the roster so that is no longer an issue. Sure, he said that he looks to improve after last season.

And from his vantage point he has. But don't look for a lot of changes to take place in his game as he tells it.

"With the new offers, nothing is going to change. I'm going to continue to work and the offers will come. I have to stay humble and working," Pullom said. "I think where you will see a change with me is my leadership. I'm in a big-time leadership role now. The youngsters coming in, I have to lead them and advance my game as well."

Recently, at Cy Woods, there was a coaching change and for the moment the team is in a transition period. But with guys like Pullom and a few other players, things should bode well.

"We don't have all of our coaches right now, but everybody is feeling the new coach and doing what needs to be done," Pullom said. "We are just working to get the team on board with our new coach."

That is the focus for Pullom right now, but he does keep in touch with other coaches to get a feel for them also. So when asked what it is about his game that has attracted college coaches…

"They see my effort. If I make a bad play, I get up and learn from my mistake and on the next play, make the big play when you can make it," Pullom said.

Pullom said most coaches are recruiting him as a defensive back, either at the cornerback or safety position. Last season, Pullom recorded over 60 tackles and four interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
