Brown Claims Four
Coming back west into Houston, Beaumont (TX) Ozen defensive back Tony Brown came down wanting to do nothing more than improve his craft. And that he did. During the early drills, Brown looked smooth as he came in and out his breaks in a number of cone drills. This will only enhance his stock as he already one of the top players in the 2014 class.
Of course, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Brown is not a player who is unknown in the recruiting ranks, but is looking to get a little more going. At the moment, he claims offers from LSU, Mississippi State, TCU and Texas A&M.
"I feel good about everything right now, with football and recruiting," Brown said. "I just need to get in the weight room after being in track for most of the spring."
Brown is an All-State hurdler and is being sought-after by colleges for that also.
Interest Building for Braden
It looks as though the 2014 class in the Houston area will be a good one and Humble (TX) Summer Creek wide receiver Jordan Braden will be one to keep an eye on. From a fairly new program in the North Houston area, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Braden is part of a loaded class of kids coming out of that school. He has not yet pulled in an early offer, but will be heading to a number of camps to work towards one.
"He (Jordan) will camp at SMU, Houston, TCU and Rice," Jordan's father said at the camp. "Schools are recruiting him as an athlete."
Newell Battles Lone Star Style
Making the trip from across state lines, defensive lineman Peyton Newell from Hiawatha, KS is a player who knows a thing or two about stellar play. And he has the offer list to support that. He spoke with Fox Sports Next and said five programs have offered him with UCLA, Baylor, TCU, Iowa and Illinois all throwing a name into the hat. But the 6-foot-3, 270-pound Newell is expecting a few more, especially since he is only a 2014 kid.
His father stated that he will visit Stanford, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa this summer.
