News and notes on the recruiting trail from some of the top prospects at the Oakland Nike Football Training Camp...
Tulare (Calif.) Mission Oak linebacker Kevin Palma has three offers but after
his performance on Sunday, his second stellar Nike Camp showing, it wouldn't be
a surprise to things kick up a notch for him. Palma has offers from
Nevada, Oregon State and San Diego State but said that he thinks UCLA, UNLV and
Washington could be the next group of schools to offer. He'll be attending
UCLA's camp on July 9th.
Oakley (Calif.) Freedom receiver Darrell Daniels didn't work out but the
four-star prospect was there to watch his teammates participate. Daniels,
who has nearly 20 offers from all over the country, said that by July, he'll
have a group of top five schools and said that USC and Washington will
definitely be in his top five.
Fresno (Calif.) Central safety Hatari Byrd has double-digit offers but said
it would still be a while before he started to trim his list. The one
school he said he was certain would be in his top five was UCLA and that he's
got a good relationship with head coach Jim Mora and defensive backs coach
Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande defensive tackle Elijah Qualls was offered by
USC last week and he said that when he starts to trim his list, which he plans
to have narrowed down to six by late June, USC, Washington and Oregon State will
all be on it.
Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Michael Hutchings said that USC is
his top school but that he's not planning to commit soon, with plans to take
some unofficial visits, including one to Oregon and a likely official visit to Arizona State would come
during the season.
Fresno (Calif.) Central 2014 receiver Michiah Quick has been offered by
Oklahoma, Notre Dame and UCLA already and said that his most recent offer was
Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande 2014 quarterback JaJuan Lawson has one offer
already from Arizona and said that Oregon State, Washington, Nevada, Iowa State
and San Diego State have all watched him throw this spring, and could be early

San Marin (Calif.) 2014 quarterback Manny Wilkins moved to the Bay Area from
Texas midway through the 2011 season, when he was a sophomore, but now that he's
set in San Marin, he's looking forward to getting the recruiting process going,
and now that he's on the West Coast, is interested in some of the Pac-12
Oakley (Calif.) Freedom 2014 running back Joe Mixon doesn't have any offers
yet, but said a number of schools that have been by to see his teammate Darrell
Daniels, want to watch him this fall and schools like Oregon State, Washington
and Cal have shown the most early interest.
Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Victor Egu said the recent slew of
offers has caught him off guard but he's enjoying the process. Egu has
added offers in the last two weeks from Washington State, Nevada, Northwestern,
Nebraska, Notre Dame, Army and Arizona.
Salinas (Calif.) Palma defensive end Jack Powers has offers from Washington
State and Fresno State and said Nevada, Cal and Arizona have all come by in
El Cerrito (Calif.) cornerback Marcellus Pippins said his newest offer is
from Washington State and that followed offers from San Diego State and Utah.
Grass Valley (Calif.) Nevada Union linebacker Tanner Vallejo got offered by
San Diego State last week and Washington State before that and now has offers from Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State and Washington State.
