He'll continue that prep career for one more year a few miles further north at Zachary High School.
"I've known Coach (Neil) Weiner for three years," said Gage of the Zachary head coach. "I also know Coach (Chris) Carrier from track meets. I went to Zachary's spring game yesterday (Saturday), and they run the air raid/spread offense just like Houston.
"I live in the same apartment complex as (Zachary '13 LB) Larry Cage. He's a great guy."
Coach (Brandon) Middleton from Houston visited Redemptorist during spring practice to keep an eye on Gage.
"I had a good time when I saw Coach Middleton," said Gage. "I'm going to Houston's camp on June 3rd. I'm going to get to hang out around the campus for four days, and I also have family down there. I talked to Coach (Tony) Levine, and he said we got commitments from the No. 1 kicker in the nation and an offensive lineman who is 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds."
Gage added a Memphis offer when the Tigers dropped by Redemptorist during the spring eval period, but he's solid to Houston.
"I'm a Cougar forever," he stated. "There's no changing my mind."
Houston signed a few prospects out of Louisiana earlier this year, including three-star CB Trevon Stewart from Patterson HS, RB/DB Jontrey Tillman (West Saint Mary HS) - who was a longtime Stanford commit - and Bryan Singleton (DE) from Destrehan.
