Davis With Spring Time Haul

The Jackson metro area is putting together a solid collection of college football prospects for the 2013 signing class. One of the top rising seniors in the Jackson public school system is Murrah offensive lineman James Davis. Davis already holds a trio of scholarship offers with the prospect of more options after his summer camping trips are done.

James Davis profile

"I have offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss," said Davis. "Louisiana-Lafayette has talked about offering me too.

"I have heard from from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU too.

"There are a few other smaller schools, but those have been the main ones."

Just about all of Davis' more serious suitors spent some time on the Murrah campus over the course of the last few weeks.

Davis plans to return the favor in the coming weeks.

"I want to visit all of the schools that have offered me and I know I am definitely going to Mississippi State and Ole Miss," said Davis. "The offensive line coach from Ole Miss came to see me last week and they want me to come their camp.

"I am going to go work out up there and I am going to Mississippi State's camp to show them what I can do too."

At 6-3, 276, Davis has the makings of a solid offensive guard prospect.

Davis believes that his best football is yet to come and that once programs see him this summer and fall that his college options will grow.

"I am looking forward to the season," said Davis. "We had a good spring and I feel like some of our younger guys are going make a difference for us this year.

"I am working hard to have my best season this year and I feel like if I have a good year then some more schools will offer me."

Davis reports that he plans to keep his options open at least through the summer months. After taking stock of his recruitment at the conclusion of his summer travels, the talented guard plans to narrow things down.
