Texans 7v7 SQT: Hoza Scott

Fox Sports Next has the update on La Porte linebacker Hoza Scott from Texas. Recently, he participated in the Houston Texans 7-on-7 tournament. While there, he gave Fox Sports Next a quick recruiting update…

Already looking ahead, the word on the street is that La Porte (TX) linebacker Hoza Scott will be the No. 1 defensive player in the country. And while that is a subjective stance on the young Houston area star, there are clearly a number of arguments that could support that.

If that is not enough, just take a look at just a few of the college coaches looking to sign him in the class of 2014.

"I got Alabama, LSU, Texas, California, Texas A&M, and Florida. I have a bunch," Scott said. "It feels pretty good getting recruited. I'm just letting things go day by day and I know things will work out for me."

Yes, it is still early for the 6-foot-3, 217-pound Scott, but teams are looking to get early and often as Scott is a physical player who can fit into any defense.

For now, he looks to stay open and will look over a number of things this summer. But right now, there is a program that one could say does own a slight edge in the talented defender.

"Right now I am leaning more to Texas A&M because that is a place I visited already. I mean, that is the only school I visited so far," Scott said. "I still have to visit a whole bunch of other schools."

Which schools? Scott mentioned names like LSU, Alabama, Texas and probably Florida (his brother lives there). He looks to camp and/or visit these places.

Most programs are looking for him to play outside linebacker. In the run game, Scott is solid so he said that he spent this off season working on his pass coverage. Right now his team is playing in the Texas 7-on-7 state qualifying tournaments.
