Spartans Join Chase For Ferns

Before everything is said and done, Michael Ferns may be Ohio's top prospect in the 2014 recruiting class. On Wednesday, Michigan State added their name to the growing list of teams hoping to battle for his signature. What does Ferns think about the Spartans?

After making a visit to St. Clairsville (OH) High School a few weeks ago, Michigan State gathered their information on 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker Michael Ferns. On Wednesday, Ferns was able to add the Spartans to his offer list.

"Michigan State has now offered," Ferns told Spartan Digest. "I'm excited about the offer and have heard a lot of good things about (head) Coach (Mark) Dantonio."

Having added offers from Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan in the past few days, Ferns has plans to visit MSU.

"I most likely will stop in June," said Ferns. "I'll be making a round trip covering both Michigan and Michigan State."

As for what Ferns knows about the Spartans program, he's open to learning more.

"I didn't expect them to offer early," said Ferns. "From what I know, they don't offer many this early. I definitely think they can spark my interest with a visit though."
