Collins Postpones Decision

Dallas Skyline's star 2014 cornerback Cedric Collins was down to three schools, and set on announcing an early commitment within the coming week. That is, until a Big Ten reached out. A "favorite" of his. A program that caused Collins to hit the brakes a bit.

Cedric Collins never named an official announcement date, but reported he would be making a decision "a few days after the spring game" among Texas A&M, TCU and Baylor.

Last Thursday's spring game now sits in the books. And Collins sits still uncommitted. In fact, it seems he will remain just that for a while.

"I'm not deciding any time soon," Collins reported Wednesday. "I've been thinking about waiting, but especially now with Nebraska… I'm going to wait to see what Nebraska does."

Big Red is a program that just recently entered the picture for Collins, and particularly excited him. And while no offer yet, there is plenty of interest from both parties.

"I've always liked Nebraska. I mean, they got the blackshirts. That's what they're known for. Prince Amukamara- that's my idol. I loved watching him. That's who I try to model myself and my game after," explained Collins.

"I really like Nebraska. I'm hoping for that offer."

The 5'10, 170-pound corner noted that if an offer does so come, the Huskers will not only join the race with A&M, TCU and Baylor- but lead it.

"I'm trying to weigh all options, and what would be best for me. I think Nebraska defense would be a good fit for me, and I think I could do well there."

Collins and his father plan to visit the campus this summer.

"Getting up there isn't an issue at all," he said. "We'll get there."
