Scout300 RB committed, but looking

Alex Collins has been committed to Miami since mid January, but he recently visited Wisconsin. Find out where he is with his commitment to UM, who he will be visiting in June, and more right here.

"I am committed to Miami and everyone wants to know where I stand, so I tell them I am committed, but I still want to see what else is out there," said Alex Collins.

"Miami has great history, they put running backs in the NFL, it is close to home, and they have so much to like there. I feel good about Miami, but I still want to see what else is out there."

Collins has double-digit offers, but there are two schools pursuing the four-star running back out of Plantation (Fla.) South Plantation harder than others right now.

"Florida State and Wisconsin are the main schools recruiting me at the moment. There are more schools and a lot of coaches came through to check on me this spring, but the two showing the most interest are Florida State and Wisconsin. They just recruit me all the time and that stands out."

The 5-foot-11, 195 pound Scout300 member recently visited one of those schools and it was a little different than what he is used to.

"I recently took a visit to Wisconsin and it is a lot different from Miami," Collins said. "The environment is nice and at Wisconsin, it is only Wisconsin. At Miami, there is so much more around - You have the Dolphins, the Heat, and so much more going on. It is all about Wisconsin up there and that was different for me."

One thing really stood out to Collins during the visit to Wisconsin.

"I really liked the offensive linemen up there. I had never stood under a 6-foot-9 person before, but I did there, and it was like standing under a tree. I was up there seeing if I could see myself there and I had a positive visit there. I liked getting to know the coaches and players."

He has visited Tallahassee a couple of times before too, but he is still researching that school.

"I have been to FSU a couple of times for camps, but I want to know more about them. I like Coach [Eddie] Gran a lot though. We talk a good bit. He is a really good guy and a really good coach. I am still getting to know more about Florida State right now and I plan to visit them again in June."

Collins remains a UM commit, but lists the Seminoles and Badgers right there behind the Hurricanes.

He will turn his focus more towards recruiting later this year.

"I am still focused on high school right now and taking care of my grades, but I will focus more on recruiting when I take my official visits. I will likely take all five, but I am not certain yet. I just want to see everything that is out there."
