Herron to Wear Purple and Gold

Frank Herron has been the subject of much conversation since he announced his intentions to declare his college allegiance today. Herron reported a top five of Clemson, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State and Tennessee. Earlier today, Herron reported that he would spend his college career in Baton Rouge playing for Coach Les Miles.

"I committed to LSU and I am real excited," said Herron. "LSU just feels like home. I know they love me down there.

"LSU has been showing me love for a long time and I know that's the right place for me.

"My mama can come down there. It's not that far from home."

Herron sees an opportunity to make an early impact on the Tigers' defense.

"I feel like I can go in here and play early," said Herron. "They told me that they play a lot of defensive linemen and that if I work hard, I can go in and be a part of the eight man rotation."

LSU defensive line coach Brick Haley was instrumental in securing the four star defensive end's commitment.

"Coach Haley is a great guy," said Herron. "He is just a good man.

"He stayed on me the whole time and I have a lot of respect for him.

"He never slowed down even when he lost his father-in-law. He kept on recruiting me even though he had to deal with all of that.

"I am excited about him being my coach."

Herron will make the trip to Baton Rouge later this weekend in an effort to learn more about his college home.

"I am going down there tomorrow," said Herron. "I am going down there for the camp.

"I am looking forward to seeing everything and talking with the coaches.

"I am real excited about going down there. That's where I am going to be the next four years."

Herron is the 14th public commitment towards the 2013 signing class for Coach Les Miles and his staff.
