Kevin Robbins On Committing to Georgia Tech

Bishop McNamara defensive end/outside linebacker Kevin Robbins was rumored to be close to making a commit last week. Tonight he pulled the trigger and gave Georgia Tech his commit.

"I have made my commitment to Georgia Tech." Kevin Robbins decided today to give Georgia Tech his commit. "You are the first person besides Coach (Al)Groh that I have talked to about it."

Kevin's relationship with Coach Groh was a big factor in his decision. "I also love the atmosphere at Georgia Tech and the campus." The city of Atlanta and the academics also factored into his decision. Kevin wants to major in Business Management at Georgia Tech.

Having teammate Darius Commissiong already committed to Tech also helped Robbins to make his decision. "Even though I thought we would end up at the same school, I made this decision based on what was best for me as did Darius. It just happens we both value the same good things about Georgia Tech."

During his recruitment Kevin also talked to Georgia Tech cornerback Louis Young. "He had great things to say about me coming to Georgia Tech. There are other players like Jeremiah Attaochu and Roderick Chungong there that are from this area too."

Robbins is now finished with his recruitment. "My dad and I put in a lot of time and resources researching schools, especially Georgia Tech and I feel really good about my decision." Robbins feels he can be successful both on the field and in the classroom at Tech.

Kevin made the call to Coach Groh when he was sure about his decision. "He said he was real excited to have me on board and was looking forward to working with me when I get to Tech. I am looking forward to it too as he is a great defensive mind and knows how to teach players, especially linebackers."

Robbins is looking forward to the switch from defensive end to outside linebacker in the 3-4 defensive scheme. "We are changing to a 3-4 in high school so I will have a year under my belt when I get to Georgia Tech."
