Lane Nabs SEC Offer

Quinton Lane has run from obscurity to notoriety both literally and figuratively. After running a 4.33 in the 40 yard dash last weekend at the Southeast Select combine in Tupelo, Mississippi, the talented wide out turned in a similar time yesterday at the Ole Miss Elite camp. By day's end, Lane had an offer in hand from the Rebels.

"After the camp, I just spent some time walking around the campus and getting to see everything," said Lane. "I met with Coach Freeze in his office.

"He told me that I had a scholarship from them."

The news was extremely well received from the Ackerman standout.

"I was pumped and real excited," said Lane. "They want me to come in as an athlete. Coach Freeze said I would get some snaps on offense, but they think I would be a good safety."

The personable Lane had several college camps planned, but those programs may not get the chance to host the speedster before he closes out his recruitment.

"I always kind of wanted to get an offer from Ole Miss," said Lane. "I think the next thing I am going to do is to sit down and talk with my parents about everything.

"I might go ahead and commit now that I have one of the offers that I really wanted."
