"I made a commitment Tuesday. They came to my school, it was my first time meeting coach Mazzone," said Lotulelei. "When they got there I told them that I was glad they had come because I wanted to commit and be a Bruin."
The 5'8" 175lbs prospect has been getting recruited by a tag team of UCLA coaches.
"Coach Mazzone and coach Tuiasosopo have been recruiting me," said Lotulelei. "They have come by my school two or three times, I have been staying in touch with coach Tuiasosopo."
Lotulelei singled out the offensive system as the main reason he chose to head to Westwood.
"They told me that the player in my position last year had 70 catches," said Lotulelei. "We almost run the same offense at Cottonwood that they run at UCLA."
Lotulelei said his decision was final, but did leave the door open for a couple of in-state programs.
"It has been relieving. I was waiting on BYU, but I decided that UCLA was the place," said Lotulelei. "It's nice to not have to worry anymore."
Lotulelei is prepping for his senior season and has already begun scouting one opponent. Skyline HS (Wash.) will bring Scout's #1 quarterback, Max Browne, to Utah to face off against Lotulelei and Scout's #4 rated quarterback Cooper Bateman.
"I am getting ready for the season, our 7on7 just started," said Lotulelei. "I was actually watching some tape on Max Browne earlier today, pretty impressive. It's going to be an exciting game."
