Busy summer for Bridges-Thompson

Justin Bridges-Thompson picked up five early scholarship offers and other schools are showing a significant amount of interest in him. The Spartanburg (S.C.) High outside linebacker will be very busy this summer.

"Right now, I have offers from Arizona, Hampton, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest," said Justin Bridges-Thompson (6'2/210). "I am also hearing from Auburn, South Carolina, Clemson, and Virginia Tech."

Some teams have started to pursue the talented linebacker more aggressively.

"Auburn and N.C. State are recruiting me pretty heavy right now. Virginia Tech and South Carolina are also on me hard," said Bridges-Thompson. "If I had to guess, I would say my next offer would be from either Auburn or South Carolina."

Bridges-Thompson will not have much time to relax this summer.

"We have 7-on-7 this weekend," he said. "Then next week, I am going to camps at Clemson and N.C. State. I will also camp at Virginia Tech and Auburn in July."

Bridges-Thompson does not have a timeline for a possible decision, but knows what a school will need to offer.

"When the season starts, I am not going to be focused on recruiting," he said. "I will worry about that in late December or early January. I am looking for a place where I can fit in. I also want to go to a school where I can make an impact and somewhere that will help me develop into an NFL player. Academically, I have to have a plan B, in case football does not work out. The school needs to be a place where I can grow and develop. I want to be a journalist, so academics will be important."

Currently, the three-star linebacker said he does not have a favorite school or group of schools. Thompson had a monster junior season, racking up 155 tackles. He bench presses 275 pounds, squats 420, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds.
