Sykes Earns First Offer at Camp

Oak Park River Forest (Ill.) 2014 LB/DE Nile Sykes picks up his first offer, and is ready to earn more.

After impressing at camp yesterday, class of 2014 pass rush specialist Nile Sykes earned an offer from Northern Illinois.

"Man it felt great," the 6'2, 220-lb Sykes said. "It was great being there. I'm just really excited and I hope that when I keep going to these camps, I get more and more."

The offer came with the realization of what it truly meant to have school paid for.

"Before they offered me, they were talking about how they decide upon kids they offer at camp and then they said you saved your parents. I'm about to make your life right now. You saved your parents $100,000 cause he explained how much it would cost each year. I want to offer you a scholarship. I'd love to see you playing for us."

The Huskies will be in it until the end, even as more offers are likely to come in, because of the relationship Sykes has built with the coaches.

"The coaches are great. They are friendly. I got a really good feeling. The facilities good as well. They showed me around the building."

The camps continue soon and Sykes hopes, the offers will too.

"Next week I have Michigan State on the 15th and then on the 22nd I have Wisconsin."
