Coverdale Wanting More

Kenston (OH) offensive lineman Sam Coverdale has come a long way in the recruiting world since picking up his first offer last winter. He now holds several offers, and hoping to land a few more.

Sam Coverdale is one of the top offensive tackle prospects in Ohio, and the Kenston three-star tackle has put together an impressive scholarship offer list.

Coverdale, 6-foot-7, 280-pounds, currently holds over 20 offers, including Northwestern, West Virginia, Boston College and Kentucky. This month, he will be at three specific camps looking for more.

"My recruiting has exceeded every expectation I had and I'm happy with my offers," Coverdale stated. "Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Stanford are all wanting to see me in camp before offering, and I'm going to go to all three. I will be going to Ohio State this Sunday, and they just started recruiting me in the past two weeks. I have spoken to Coach (Ed) Warriner and he told me I'm near the top of their recruiting board, but he can't offer me until he sees me."

"I'm also going to visit Stanford later this month, and I'm very excited to visit there," he added. "To me, it's the best school in the country when you combine academics with football. I never expected to be recruited by Stanford, but I'm very interested in them. They told me if I do well in camp I should have the offer. Vanderbilt is another school I'm very high on, and they've been in to see me work out. I'm going there on June 16-17. I'm also hearing from Illinois, and they could be a possible offer."

Coverdale has an idea of when he would like to make a decision, and it could be by summer's end.

"Whenever I get the right feeling, I'm going to commit," he explained. "I would love to have it done before my season starts and have all the pressure of recruiting over with. The coaches can start calling on September 1st, and I'd like to have this done by then."
