Venables offers ACC CB commit

On the last day of May, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables offered cornerback commit Evrett Edwards.

The three-star prospect, who's ranked as the No. 89 cornerback in the country, now has offers from Clemson, Duke, Boston College, Illinois, Penn State, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

"My coach told me to call coach Venables and I called him," Edwards told CUTigers earlier this week. "He came up and watched our spring practice and liked what he saw, and loved my film.

"He liked my hips and my footwork, so coach Venables said it was an easy decision to make."

Edwards camped at Wake Forest last weekend. He'll head to Duke and Alabama for camps later this summer.

"They're on my hopeful list for camps to go work at. If I can get there, I'm going to go check it out," he said.

As a junior, Edwards had 40 tackles, six interceptions, seven pass breakups and two blocked field goals.

He'll be a senior this fall at Woodbridge High School in Virginia.
