Quick Take: Marquise Moore

We give a quick breakdown on Toledo, Ohio native Marquise Moore who issued his verbal pledge to his hometown team on Friday night.

After an impressive performance at the Nike Football Training Camp in Illinois last weekend, Toledo (OH) Whitmer defensive lineman Marquise Moore jumped on an offer from hometown program Toledo.

Here is a quick look at Moore as a prospect.

Moore is an inside guy on defense who shows great initial quickness off the ball and the ability to handle blockers one-on-one when he stays low and uses a power move. When he lines up on an outside shoulder he's capable of using his speed to shoot a gap and apply pressure to the quarterback.

Listed at 6-foot-1, Moore is more in the range of 5-foot-11 to six foot and the weight he carries is not distributed evenly. While there is nothing that can be done about his height, he'll see some changes to his body once he enters a college strength and conditioning program. The biggest thing for Toledo fans that will be a concern will be the ability to keep Moore from jumping to a BCS program that could take a liking to him in the next several weeks.

Moore is a player that won't impress the average fan who just looks at his physical build. However, if he can stay low and bring effort on every play, he'll make up for his shortcomings and be a solid player with a high skill set that can anchor the middle of a defense.

If Toledo can hold on and sign Moore on National Signing Day, they will get a player who will have a chance to be a starter on the Rockets defense early in his career.
