Garner Impresses At Camp

The Southern Miss camp was loaded with local talent today, and despite the rain they had a great work-out on the Hattiesburg campus. One that stood out was FCAHS LB Stacey Garner. He took some time to talk about his camp experience with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Stacey Garner is a LB/DE combo player who has really turned a lot of heads this spring. Today it was the Golden Eagle coaches who got an up and close view of the local star.

"We worked really hard today," he said of camp. "We mostly stayed with our positions, and we did the usual things like 40 times, agility drills, broad jumps, and other things so the coaches could see our athletic ability."

"I worked out with the linebackers today."

He felt like he had a good showing for the coaches.

"I was pleased with how I did except for two plays that I really missed," he said. "But, I was able to redeem myself after I made those mistakes so I think they liked the fact that I kept working hard.

"I talked with the linebacker coach after the camp and he said he loved the way I really got after it."

The Eagles have yet to offer the FCAHS defender, though they did say they will be in close contact over the next few weeks. Garner has an offer from Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech.

"I'm hoping they will offer me soon, but we'll see," he added. "Right now I am just going to keep working and just see what happens. I will take in a few more camps as well."
