Receiver will visit Wake Forest

Wake Forest is one of several ACC schools that has offered Alex Montgomery, a receiver out of Florida. Soon the Demon Deacons will have a chance to make their case in person. Montgomery plans to visit Winston-Salem and several other schools in the area on a summer college tour. The dates aren't set in stone yet but it shouldn't be too long until Montgomery is in town.

Wake Forest, NC State, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss and Duke are just some of the schools that have offered the 6-1, 195-pound wide out from Weston (FL) Cypress Bay.

Montgomery hasn't narrowed his list at all but believes that task will be a lot more manageable after some visits.

Though Montgomery has never been to Wake Forest he likes what he's heard about the school.

"I talked to Wake Forest just the other day actually," Montgomery recalled in an interview over the weekend. "Coach Ray McCartney was talking to me. They've been recruiting me since all the way back at the beginning of my junior year and they offered me two months ago.

"They offer a great education as a school and I like them a lot. They've got a good football program too. I'm still doing more research on them but that's why I'm going to visit."

That Wake Forest education that Montgomery praised could really help the Deacs when it's crunch time and a decision is at hand.

"First of all education is the most important thing but football is important too," he said. "The coaches too. I've gotta get along with the coaches and players. It's gotta be a personal feel, you know? I want to feel good around everybody."

While Montgomery doesn't have any favorites he did note that Wake Forest was one of the first schools to start recruiting him so he feels like he has a good bond with the staff.
