TE to Miami: I couldn't pass it up

The Hurricanes offered this tight end prospect a couple months ago and he pulled the trigger in favor of them yesterday. Read on to see what he's saying.

Jeremy Kerr landed an offer from Miami back in April. He took a return visit to Coral Gables over the weekend and pulled the commitment trigger.

"I was down there this past weekend and I got a chance to meet with the coaches and spend more time with them; met with some of the players. That was the first time meeting them and it was cool. I had a few nights to sleep on it and figured why wait. I called Coach Golden yesterday and let him know the news. He was real happy. He was pulling for me. They wanted me to commit when I was there but I wasn't ready. He made sure I called Coach Carroll and so I let him know."

Kerr, 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, has been high on Miami for awhile now.

"They have so much tradition there. I really, really, truly believe Coach Golden has them going in the right direction. He's turning the program, putting Miami back on the map. I really love the location, Miami is beautiful,, you cant get any better than that. The education speaks for itself. People would die for that opportunity. I think it would have been hard not to pock Miami."

The standout tight end prospect is used mainly as a blocker in high school and talked about what his future role will be.

"A tight end who can block the run, block the pass, run out and catch some passes. I wont split out as much as other tight ends. I'll put my paw on the ground and really get after it."

Kerr also held offers from Purdue, UConn, Wake Forest, and Memphis.
