It was all about the Hurricanes up until this week. Kearse still saw a number of coaches come through to check on him this spring, but he still felt UM was the school for him.
Then he got out and saw Clemson. That visit changed things for him.
"I just saw another campus, saw how much I liked it, and just knew when I was up there that I needed to look around."
Many things stood out to the 6-foot-4, 205 pound athlete out of South Fort Myers.
"I was at Clemson for four days, so I saw a lot... And I liked a lot. Their campus is nice, the coaches there are great, and I just liked everything up there.
"I got to talk with some of the players and Sammy Watkins played where I go to school, so we talked a lot. Sammy told how much the coaches care about the players there, how the help is there for the players, and just how real everyone is. It was great to talk to him."
The Tigers is now in line to receive an official visit from the four-star that Scout has ranked as an outside linebacker.
"I know I will be visiting USC and Clemson officially," he said. "I am not sure about the other schools yet because I am talking to so many. Alabama just started talking to me and I have been talking to Tennessee, West Virginia, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, USC, South Carolina, and a couple other schools. I will figure out the other three visits later."
Kearse plans to visit Alabama and USC unofficially later this summer and he could stop by a few more campuses if he can fit visits in.
He has completely opened things back up, but he is not ruling Miami out in the end.
"I really like Miami a lot and I still have them up there on my list. I just need to get out to other schools, see other places, and just make sure of things before I make my final decision. The coaches are great there, it is close to home, and they will be in it."
