Stanford lands elite SoCal WR

With his older brother Chris having so much success at Stanford, it always seemed like just a matter of time before Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian receiver Francis Owusu selected the Cardinal as well. That happened over the weekend.

Owusu visited the Farm this past weekend and before leaving campus, he decided to end the recruiting process.

"I committed to Stanford," Owusu told Brandon Huffman of Scout.com moments ago. "I had a great visit and got to see my older brother Chris graduate. While I was out there, I decided to commit as well so it was a great weekend for our family."

Owusu is one of the top receivers in the West region and has a very nice upside to him. He finished his junior season with 35 catches for 705 yards and eight touchdowns and emerged late in the year as the teams go to receiver.

He has a nice frame that is starting to fill out and is a legitimate deep threat with very good speed. The athlete battled injuries most of the spring and missed a few of the big summer camps and 7 on 7 tourneys but when healthy, he's a national prospect with the talent to play for just about anyone.

Owusu chose the Cardinal over offers from schools all over the country including Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin just to name a few.

We'll have more on Owusu's decision once he gets home as he's currently driving home from Stanford.
