Durkin Maps Out Visits

Chris Durkin has an impressive list of schools that he has already camped at, and he isn't finished yet.

Youngstown (OH) Ursuline quarterback Chris Durkin didn't move to quarterback until this past season. He had been a receiver prior to that, before settling in as his Team's signal caller. As a sophomore, he threw for over 600 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns and another rushing. He should see his role grow significantly as a junior.

In his first full summer as a starting quarterback, Durkin has been making his rounds at several camps with several stops yet to come. The result has been a few early verbal offers. He has also taken a thorough game plan in deciding which schools to camp at.

"It's really been schools that have come and talked to me, those are the camps I've tried to go to," Durkin said. "There have been a lot of teams that have had recent success. Me and my dad, we also have to look into the depth at the quarterback position with each school. I want to try and go somewhere that I can play as fast as I can."

Durkin's list of schools includes Penn State, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ohio State, Florida, West Virginia, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. He'd also like to try and fit in a visit at Stanford. He was at Pittsburgh's camp last week.

"It was a good camp, a lot of throwing," Durkin said, "All the quarterbacks received a ton of reps, not only myself. It's the most (reps) I've received at any camp I did this year. The ore throws, the better. I think I did all right."

"I like their quarterback situation. The twins--Chris and Demitrious Davis--I've known them since we were all little kids. My cousin is (former QB and Pitt assistant) Matt Cavanaugh. I'm definitely interested."
