Simmons at Twenty

Some of the top powers in the country have come calling for Mansfield Timberview safety Brandon Simmons. The junior-to-be now holds 20 offers.

LSU, Michigan and Ohio State are three of the latest to join the towering stack of offers, with Texas Tech, Arizona and Boise State.

"It feels great. I'm extremely blessed," said Simmons on reaching the big 2-0 marker, and before his junior season.

LSU actually came sooner than expected.

It's been set in stone since early this month that Brandon Simmons would be camping in Baton Rouge July 15 and 16. At LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond's request.

"Raymond said he had Brandon's film and that he loved Brandon. Said he can hit, he can cover, and he is smart back there. He really liked his size, too (6'1, 180)," said Simmons' father, Kashann Simmons, in a previous interview.

"So they want him to come out to camp; want to eyeball him and let him go through a couple one-on-ones, because like Raymond said, they only offer DBs and defensive linemen in person. Those are their most prized positions."

"He told me they're not taking a safety in the the 2013 class, but they will in the 2014 class. They love Brandon."

Love him so much that a Tiger offer now sits on his plate 23 days before he hits the road for BR.

"(Coach Raymond) was saying he was looking forward to seeing me at camp and meeting me," said Simmons.

As big as the offer is to Simmons, he noted he is leaving all doors open. And making as many visits as he can before a decision is ultimately made.

"This summer, LSU will probably be it, but I want to try and get to as many schools as I can." --Stanford, West Virginia (dad's alma mater), Michigan and Ohio State securing spots on the list.

And while he is in no hurry to make a decision, he noted by "this time next year" he would like to have it made.
