Taylor to Tulane

Tulane continued its recruiting momentum today with a commitment from Zachary (La.) HS offensive guard Chris Taylor.

Why did Chris Taylor choose Tulane?

"It's the education," said Taylor. "When I found out about that (quality of education at the school), it made me want to commit to Tulane even more. I want to major in business, and they have one of the best business schools."

Taylor got an up-close look at things Uptown yesterday.

"I took an unofficial visit and talked with the Tulane coaches," said Taylor (6-2, 305). "I liked the way they talked to me, and I liked how C.J. (Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson) wants to turn Tulane's program around. Jason Rollins was my recruiter, and he and C.J. are both cool coaches."

Zachary is looking to go farther in the playoffs this fall than in 2011. Last year, the 5A Broncos were bounced in the first round by Acadiana.

Taylor gets a welcome addition in new teammate, WR Donald Gage (transfer from Redemptorist).

"He's a good player who should make a big contribution," said Taylor of Gage (Houston commit).

Taylor had parting words for Green Wave fans.

"Tulane fans should be on the lookout for No. 75 when I get there," said Taylor.

Taylor's head coach at Zachary is Neil Weiner.
