Utah's 2013 recruiting class may have found their man at QB after Southern California product Conner Manning was offered on Tuesday.
"I was extremely excited and honored. To get an offer from a big time Pac 12 school like Utah is a real honor."
Manning's offer is his first, and it sprung Utah to the top of his list due to the relationship he has with Aaron Roderick.
"I gave Coach Roderick a call and he offered me. He came out to my spring practice twice and watched me throw. He's really a good guy and I feel very comfortable talking to him."
Utah offering first puts them in a great spot, but there are a host of other schools that could jump into the mix as well.
"Utah is the only school that has offered, but I'm also talking to Oregon State, Arizona State, Washington State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, and Hawaii."
The 6-2, 200 pounder has never visited the Beehive State, but has plans to do so in the near future with a possible commitment coming during, or right after the visit.
"I've never been to Utah, but I'll be going out there in a couple of weeks after my summer practice ends to get a feel for the school. I'm really high on Utah right now. They're definitely my leader. If I like what I see when I'm there and I feel comfortable, then making a commitment is definitely a possibility. I would like to commit before my senior season begins and get it out of the way."
Manning is putting a lot of emphasis on coaching and the relationship he has with coaches when making his decision.
"I'm just looking for a place that has surroundings and an environment that fits me, and has a great college atmosphere. I also want a place where I'm comfortable with the coaches."
Manning threw for 4,200 yards with 41 TDs as a junior in 2011.
