Maloney Updates on Recruiting

Maine South (Ill.) lineman Pat Maloney talks with Fox Sports Next about his decision timeline, and his most recent offer from an FCS school.

Still in search of his first Big Ten offer, Maine South (Ill.) lineman Pat Maloney headed to a few camps to get in front of some Big Ten coaches. Maloney attended camps at Illinois, Indiana and also made his way to Duke.

"Illinois camp went really well," Maloney said. "Luke Butkus, the O-line coach said he is going to come to one of my games early this fall."

Maloney said Illinois is high on his list if they were to extend an offer.

"I'm looking for a Big Ten offer," he said, "but if not, I still have a bunch of great options."

Those options include offers from Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Miami (Oh.), Ohio, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

Maloney said he has wrapped up camps for this summer, and that he is keeping his options open and hasn't narrowed his interest list down yet.

He's also picked up an offer from FCS school Fordham, and added that he's interested in their program as well.

"When I talked to the head coach [Joe Moorhead] he said he liked my style of play and that he likes that I have the ability to play both guard and tackle," he said.

Maloney has not set a timeline for when he might make a final decision.
