Zyaire Hughes is known in far Western Kentucky as one of the up-and-coming stars. The physically gifted freshman stands at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. But his speed and athleticism made him stand out against players in his own grade. Hughes was a young standout at one of Louisville's camps this spring.
"I've been to Louisville's camp," said Hughes. "I did good there. I had the fastest (forty) time there at 4.47. I could also catch the best," he continued.
Hughes has the skill and the physical ability to help Lone Oak do some big things next season.
"My speed, strength and the most important thing is my IQ. As a freshman I want to break records. I have my mind set to do that," he said.
Zyaire hopes to help Lone Oak to a state championship this year, but his role will be varied as he plays several positions, including quarterback, where his team has one of the state's best young quarterbacks (Cole Ousley).
"I'm starting at receiver. But if anything happens to Cole, I'll be there to take over at quarterback."
