With a scholarship available, the Eagles have found the perfect fit for this season.
"I committed to Southern Miss because it was just the right fit for me," he said. "I had a great visit, and Jamie Collins told me the coaches here will take care of me, and that is what I wanted to hear.
"I wanted to find a place I could come in and compete on a big stage, and the first game is at Nebraska. How much bigger could you get right there? They win, and it is on a national stage."
Aaron Reed will have the chance to come in and compete right away for a starting position.
"The coaches told me that I'll be competing for a spot at tackle," he said. "If not, I'll be able to redshirt and have 4 years to play 3. Either way, I'm excited about the opportunity.
"My plan is to come in the fall. The coaches wanted to see if I could come right away, but I have some classes to finish up this summer here in Scottsdale before I can get over there. So, I'll report in the fall."
Reed is a good student who has great character and already has a year of experience under his belt at the junior college level.
