Huge Offensive Tackle Makes It Official

Southern Miss has added late a huge offensive tackle that will add some immediate help. He talks about his decision to come to Southern Miss and how he expects to be used with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Aaron Reed, huge offensive tackle from Scottsdale, AZ CC will have the chance to compete for immediate playing time this year for the Eagles.

With a scholarship available, the Eagles have found the perfect fit for this season.

"I committed to Southern Miss because it was just the right fit for me," he said. "I had a great visit, and Jamie Collins told me the coaches here will take care of me, and that is what I wanted to hear.

"I wanted to find a place I could come in and compete on a big stage, and the first game is at Nebraska. How much bigger could you get right there? They win, and it is on a national stage."

Aaron Reed will have the chance to come in and compete right away for a starting position.

"The coaches told me that I'll be competing for a spot at tackle," he said. "If not, I'll be able to redshirt and have 4 years to play 3. Either way, I'm excited about the opportunity.

"My plan is to come in the fall. The coaches wanted to see if I could come right away, but I have some classes to finish up this summer here in Scottsdale before I can get over there. So, I'll report in the fall."

Reed is a good student who has great character and already has a year of experience under his belt at the junior college level.
