The Opening: Top Five Linemen

Even though pads weren't on yet, the big men still had a chance to get out there, get through drills and participate in one on ones at The Opening.

  • Da'Shawn Hand 6'4/245 - Woodbridge (Va.) (2014)
One of only three underclassmen here, Hand has more than held his own and would be highly ranked in the 2013 class. He's a great athlete with long arms and a good first step.

  • Steven Elmer 6'6/315 - Midland (Mich.) - committed to Notre Dame
Elmer put it all together on day one, doing very well in 1-1s. His technique has improved, he has gotten stronger, and maybe most importantly, he was as aggressive as we've ever seen him. He won by getting physical and getting a great punch in the reps he took.

  • Ira Denson 6'4/320 - Madison County (Fla.) - committed to Florida State
Denson is a powerful kid who was able to get his hands on guys and use that strength. He isn't all just brute strength though, as he moves well for a bigger guy, showing good footwork throughout the first day.

  • A'Shawn Robinson 6'4/305 - Ft. Worth, TX - committed to Texas
Robinson is a high motor guy who fires off the ball quickly and plays with good leverage and "pad" level. That combination of get off and aggression made him tough to deal with during the one on ones.

  • Shamire DeVine 6'6/340 - East Point, GA - committed to Georgia Tech
One of the biggest offensive linemen in attendance, Devine had a good first day, using his size and strength to win several reps. For a kid of his size, he moved well, got out of his stance well, and had a nice showing.
