The Opening: Mike Mitchell

BEAVERTON, Oregon – The National Sparq Champion talks about his top three schools: Ohio State, Florida State and Texas A&M.

Mike Mitchell, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound 4-star middle linebacker out of Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian Academy ran away with the Sparq Championship after posting a 4.39 40 and record 154.47 overall Sparq rating.

He was fired up about the win and happy to represent the greater North Texas area.

"I am enjoying. The weather is really nice. Right now in Texas it is really hot. It is pretty cool out here and I am enjoying it a lot.

On the recruiting front he broke down the latest news.

"The latest right now -- I am thinking Ohio State would be number one. I like them. But behind them it is Florida State and A&M," Mitchell said.

Ohio State – "Coach Meyer is an awesome coach and everyone knows him. I am just going to have a good time down there and hopefully compete and play early.

Florida State - "I am from Florida and I like it over there. Christian Morgan one of my teammates is going there, so I will know somebody and I think I have a good chance to play there too."

Texas A&M - "Right now it is closest to home, in Texas and my family could come to see me play. And I know I could get early playing time there."

He has a school from the Big 10, ACC and SEC in his final three, so he could still end up playing in one of three different conferences.

"I was thinking about that," Mitchell said. "I mean, SEC is awesome and everything, but anywhere I play football I will be happy."
