The Opening: Recruiting Notebook (Midlands)

BEAVERTON, Oregon -- FOX Sports NEXT is on the scene at Nike's The Opening as a number of the nation's top football prospects compete in drills and competitions. But in between all the action the recruiting talk can heat up. Here is a look at some the 'buzz'.

Mike Mitchell a 6-foot-3, 220-pound middle linebacker from Prestonwood Christian Academy in Texas has a to three of Ohio State, Florida State and Texas A&M. He is closing in on a final decision and does not know if he will have the chance to take a visit to see FSU before making his decision. PCA players have a streak of committing at Gleneagles Country Club going, but Mitchell may go a different route. He could commit without a ceremony or have it a different locale in the city.

Sealy High's Ricky Seals-Jones has two more schools in the mix of his list as UCLA and Oregon have now jumped in the game for his signature. He does not know much about UCLA yet, but does want to take his time with the process and take his visits before making a final decision. Baylor, a school he mentioned when he decommitted, is no longer on his list.

Celina High's Jake Raulerson is gettimng a chance to work out at both center and offensive tackle at The Opening and he is getting a first hand look at what it may be for him in college. His versatility could add some roster flex for Texas. He was recruited to play defensive end, but could still wind up at any three of the positions. His brother Josh Raulerson is still looking for his first scholarship offer and if things don;t work out he will take a preferred walk-on spot with his brother at UT.
