Kevin Maurice is a standout defensive line prospect from Freedom High in Orlando and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

"I haven't been going to any camps," Kevin Maurice said. "I'm going to Cincinnati on the 19th. I haven't really talked to them. They came by the school. I have a friend going and so I'll be riding up there."

Maurice, 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, is drawing Division 1 attention and talked about it.

"I have five offers – Boston College, Memphis, FAU, UMass, and Buffalo. I've been talking to Navy a lot. They're interested in offering and just waiting on their side of it."

One of those five schools really jumps out to Maurice right now.

"Boston College, they're number one right now on my list. They're the only school that keeps in touch every week. I feel comfortable with the coaches. I'm just waiting to visit. I'm gonna try going on my bye week during the season."

After the Eagles, it's wide open.

"I don't really have a number two yet. It's open after Boston College. This fall I should be getting more offers and then I'll be able to know more."

The standout defensive tackle prospect talked about what he'll be looking for in a school.

"I'm trying to see the location, coaching staff, things like that," he said.

As a Prospect: Maurice played both ways for a big school in Orlando and did it effectively. That's not real common on the interior of the line. He projects as a defensive tackle at the next level. He gets good pad level and has a quick enough first step to spend a lot of time in opposing backfields. He's one of the top linemen in the Orlando area for the 2013 class.
