6-foot-1, 200 pound linebacker Jamel Sanders has picked up two offers since the end of his junior season.
"I've been offered by Eastern Michigan and Miami of Ohio so far," said Sanders. "Eastern Michigan has a very defensive-minded staff. The head coach used to be a defensive coordinator and I like that. My brother went to Miami for a year so there is some tradition there. They have good academics and want me to play the dime position, so I could run around the defense."
Sanders has visited both campuses and liked what he saw. He's also been hearing from several other schools.
"Toledo, Bowling Green, Ball State, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Northwestern and Indiana have all been talking to me recently."
The linebacker has also been attending different camps around the Midwest.
"I've camped at Ohio State, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Cincinnati. I'm also heading to Ball State and West Virginia."
While in a perfect world, the rising senior would like to make his commitment before the season, he says that he'll probably decide in the middle of the season. While that decision could be months away, he's been thinking about what will influence that decision.
"I'll look at how good the team is; is the program growing or declining? Then I'll also think about academics and the people at the school. I want a place where I'll fit in.
Sanders has 96 tackles, two interceptions, two sacks and two forced fumbles his junior season.
