Brice Ramsey - Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County - Committed to Georgia
Notes from The Opening: He was up and down through this event. He was one of the best, possibly the best guy on Friday, but the inexperience in reading defenses showed on day two and three. He continued to show the quick release, arm strength, and poise.
Ryan Green - St. Petersburg (Fla.) St. Petersburg Catholic - Committed to Florida State
Notes from The Opening: Green was a real weapon out of the backfield and he is going to give FSU an immediate threat at that position. He is quick and fast with soft hands and he was a featured guy on his 7ON team.
Alvin Kamara - Norcross (Ga.) Norcross
Notes from The Opening: Green and Kamara were the top two running backs in this setting. Kamara would line up at the slot some and he would come out of the backfield. He was a safety valve and then he would make big plays. He has great speed.
Tramel Terry - Goose Creek (S.C.) Goose Creek - Committed to Georgia
Notes from The Opening: Terry was very elusive when he got the ball in his hands. He displayed great reaction when he got the ball, he made numerous defenders miss, and he caught the ball well in traffic too.
Travis Johnson - Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit - Committed to Miami
Notes from The Opening: Johnson is more of a tight end, but he was used like a receiver in this event. Not many wide receivers out of the South really took off in Oregon, but Johnson did. He just knows how to get open, sit down in the soft spot, and snatch everything that comes his way.
O.J. Howard - Prattville (Ala.) Autauga Academy - Committed to Alabama
Notes from The Opening: Howard was one of the top prospects in this event and that is nationwide, not just from the south. He is such an athletic tight end with strong hands and he will be a real weapon down the field for the Crimson Tide. He was basically impossible to cover at this event.
Shamire DeVine - East Point (Ga.) Tri-Cities - Committed to Georgia Tech
Notes from The Opening: I felt he was the top offensive tackle at this event. He was not allowed to go in pads because of a state of Georgia rule, but he dominated when competing. He moves so well for a guy his size and he is still so raw. He has a very bright future.
Christian Morris - Memphis (Tn.) East
Notes from The Opening: Morris is lone and fairly lean at offensive tackle. He is not quite as broad in the shoulders as he looks on film, but he still bends and moves like Scout expected him too. He did a good job of running those quick defensive ends outside the pocket. He needs to get stronger, but he had a solid showing in Oregon.
Ira Denson - Madison (Fla.) Madison County - Committed to Florida State
Notes from The Opening: Up there with DeVine when talking the top offensive lineman at The Opening out of the south. He has that nasty streak you look for and he got into his fair share of post-play altercations at The Opening. He will make one of the biggest jumps in the rankings from this region.
Denver Kirkland - Miami (Ga.) Booker T. Washington
Notes from The Opening: Kirkland worked more at right tackle at The Opening than he did guard, but he still has more upside on the inside. He showed a good punch and he got out of his stance nicely. He was solid in all phases of the game at thi event.
Brandon Kublanow - Marietta (Ga.) Walton - Committed to Georgia
Notes from The Opening: Kublanow worked at center and guard at The Opening and he continued to show that brute strength he is known for. He knocked guys off the ball and showed good flexibility.
Frank Herron - Memphis (Tn.) Central - Committed to LSU
Notes from The Opening: Herron was bigger than I expected him to be. He was taller and longer and he has a great frame for the LSU coaches to work with. He is still on the raw side, but he can get up the field quickly, he has good strength, and he is quick off the ball. I really like his upside.
Devin Washington - Orlando (Fla.) Jones - Committed to South Carolina
Notes from The Opening: This is a perfect setting for someone like Washington to excel in. He is a real pass rush specialist and he had his way much of the time in Oregon. He fires off the ball low and quick and he got around the tackles often. He needs to work on playing the run and shedding blockers.
Demarcus Walker - Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood
Notes from The Opening: Not sure what else can be said about Walker that hasn't already been said by the Scout team that covered this event. He was impressive from start to finish. He carries that 275 pound so well and he is moves well at his size. He displayed very good pad level and a good first step off the ball. He worked at end and tackle.
Caleb Brantley - Crescent City (Fla.) Crescent City - Committed to Florida
Notes from The Opening: Brantley showed that quick first step again and that is his ticket to success. He still needs to play lower more consistently, but he showed good anticipation, a great first step, and good lateral movement in small space up front.
Matthew Thomas - Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington
Notes from The Opening: Thomas looked like the five-star that he is on Scout.com out in Oregon. He had at least has a dozen interceptions and he showed great speed all over the field. He turned and ran with receivers and he showed good instincts when the ball was in the air.
Larenze Bryant - Charlotte (N.C.) Vance - Committed to South Carolina
Notes from The Open: Bryant moves well in space and he was impressive during coverage. He made a couple of nice plays on the ball and picked off one pass that he took the distance the other way. He could end up playing outside or inside linebacker at Carolina.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin - Clarkville (Tn.) Northeast
Notes from The Opening: Reeves-Maybin is a very athletic football player. He plays all over the field for Northeast and there is still questions about where he will play in college. He played outside linebacker at The Opening and he made a strong impression. He showed good closing speed to the ball and he was not afraid to knock some guys off their routes.
Jalen Ramsey - Brentwood (Tn.) Brentwood Academy
Notes from The Opening: Ramsey was arguably the top cornerback in action this weekend. There was no doubt he was the best from this region. He broke on the ball extremely well, he used his long arms to his advantage getting to balls, and he made some big interceptions too.
Artie Burns - Miami (Fla.) Northwestern
Notes from The Opening: Burns is known for his speed and he displayed that at The Opening. He still needs to improve on his footwork in coverage, but he has great recovery speed and the ability to make plays on the ball when it comes his way.
Keanu Neal - Bushnell (Fla.) South Sumter - Committed to Florida
Notes from The Opening: On film, some think of Neal as a future linebacker because of the way he flies to the ball and hits the opponent, but he showed he could cover at The Opening too. He looked more aware in the secondary and ended up with some nice interceptions.
Tray Matthews - Newnan (Ga.) Newnan - Committed to Georgia
Noted from The Opening: Matthews never looks like he is moving all that fast, but he just covers a lot of ground in the back half of the defense. He recognized things quickly, he was constantly around the ball, and he is more than just a head-hunter in the secondary.
