Alvonte Bell (Miramar, Fla./Everglades) has made his commitment to the University of Kentucky and he's the highest rated recruit headed to Lexington at this point. He's a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 22 ranked defensive end.
The first thing that jumps off the film to you is Bell's length. He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 220-pounds. Bell's long and you know he has plenty of room to add bulk to his frame. You are looking at a kid that could easily be 260 plus in a few years.
Bell shows better speed north-south than laterally side to side. He gets off the line pretty well. For a taller player he doesn't get too high out of his stance and plays at a good level. Bell shows a good burst in space when he's in attack mode, especially against the run.
You wouldn't exactly call him a speed, edge rusher but does a nice job of finding a way to get to the quarterback. He also does a nice job of chasing things down, whether it's backside pursuit or the ball carrier down field. You can see on the film when he's in pursuit he's a long strider that can move pretty well.
The bottom line here is that Bell is a prospect with a bright future. He's raw but has a lot of ability. This is a good athlete with the size/frame combination to develop into a very good defensive lineman for the Wildcats.
Below are some junior highlights from this past fall. Bell recorded 40 tackles, 11 sacks and seven tackles for a loss.
