The Opening Breakdown: Tyrone Swoopes

Scout.com National Recruiting analyst Greg Powers breaks down Whitewright (Texas) High's Tyrone Swoopes and his performance from The Opening presented by NIKE. Swoopes is committed to Texas.

Profile: Tyrone Swoopes

The Opening Breakdown: "Swoopes had a rough performance in his game on national television. He just could not seem to find a way to get in sync with his offense. That stigma will ride with him for a while until he gets another shot in a televised game, but he did have some much better moments. He led his team to two late wins and showed again that he does have the necessary arm. Heading in to the event people knew that he was not as fine-tuned as some of the other arms and that point proved true side-by-side with the most polished and accurate passers in the country. At the end of the day it will be about confidence. When he is confident in the pocket and trusts his stuff he sits back and delivers an accurate and catchable ball, but when panicked and doubt creeps in he squeezes the rock resulting in an errant throw. But don't forget with the pads on he is a dangerous runner and a serious threat to score with the ball in his hands. That attribute will help to open up things for him in the passing game. Testing wise, Swoopes checked in at 229 pounds and ran a 4.39 pro-shuttle and compiled an impressive 105.81 Sparq." - Greg Powers
