Florida DE names top five

Tony Guerard is a talented defensive end prospect from Tampa Bay Tech and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Antonio Guerad is a talented defensive end who put his name on the recruiting map last season with 35 tackles and five sacks. Now he's a BCS-level recruit who has a few visits coming up.

"I'm going to FIU for a visit tomorrow. They already offered me. I'm kinda interested in them so I wanna visit and see how everything is. I'm going to UCF later this month."

Those two visits will follow four others that he already made for summer camp stops.

"I went to Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn, and Georgia for camps. They all liked me but I haven't talked to any of them since I left their camps. They all got my number down and everything."

Guerad, 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is being actively recruited by a lot of schools right now and a few stand out over the rest.

"I got 15 offers," he said. "I like FIU, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Iowa State, and UCF."

FIU – "They're an upcoming school. They're gonna be good in the future and they have nice facilities and a nice stadium and stuff. Academically, they're doing good too. I'm gonna find out more when I go down."

Kentucky – "I haven't been there yet, so I don't know about them. The coaches have been calling and I like what they're saying."

Cincinnati – "I like their stadium and their uniforms."

Iowa State – "They gave me a full ride and I'm interested in them, getting to know them more. Their coaches have been saying good stuff that I like."

UCF – "I'm going down there on the 24th of this month and then I'll know then."

The talented defensive end prospect talked about what he'll be looking for in a school.

"Academically and how many recruits are they bringing in at my position, you know, the depth chart and stuff," he said.
