"I liked it a lot," Kamara said. "It had a nice campus. The coaches were real cool. It was real impressive."
Both 2014 prospects – Blanding, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety from Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside, and Kamara, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver from Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor – have held UNC scholarship offers for several months. However, Kamara wasn't aware of the offer until Tuesday.
"They said I've had the offer," Kamara said. "But I never knew I had it. They were really mad that I didn't know that I had it.
"Now that I know, it means a lot [to have a UNC offer]. It's a good school. I like UNC a lot. I'm glad to have it."
In total, 14 schools have offered Kamara (pictured at right), including Clemson, Miami, NC State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. He lists LSU, Miami, UNC, and Virginia as his early favorite schools.
"I've pretty much been to all of [my four favorites], except LSU," Kamara said. "I like the offenses all of those schools – they get the ball a lot to their wide receivers. They all have nice campuses and the coaches are real cool."
Blanding, on the other hand, is wide open despite positive sentiments about UNC following Tuesday's visit.
"It made a big impact on me," Blanding said. "It's a top school in academics and they're building a football program."
The visit included a full campus tour, meeting UNC's entire coaching staff, and watching film.
"I heard good things before I went there, but now that I've seen it for myself I like North Carolina a lot now," Kamara said. "I like the head coach."
Both Blanding and Kamara had a chance to sit down and talk to Larry Fedora.
"He said I could come in and play early if I wanted to, because they need receivers," Kamara said.
"He was just talking about how he just wants to come in there and change the program and just go out there and win games."
Besides UNC, Blanding has only visited Virginia. His upcoming schedule is free of any college visits.
By the end of the summer, Kamara will have visited Miami, Rutgers, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
