2014: Irish, Gophers and More for Stetler

Owatonna (Minn.) class of 2014 defensive end Andrew Stetler had a great sophomore season and has top schools noticing.

Andrew Stetler played varsity football for the first time last fall, and as it was for many high school players new to that level, it was not always easy.

"It was a big adjustment at first, but after a couple games, I felt I was doing a lot better. The competition was good."

Stetler may have felt like it was a big adjustment, but his play said otherwise. The 6'4, 235-lb defensive end finished with 39 tackles, six sacks, and a fumble recovery. That's part of the reason schools have already started to contact him.

"I've gotten camp info and contact info from Vanderbilt, North Dakota, Michigan State, Michigan, Princeton, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Northern Iowa. I went to Notre Dame for a one day camp and then I'm going to Minnesota on Sunday."

Just as it had been for his first varsity season, Stetler's first college summer camp, the one in South Bend, went well.

"It was really good. They put me in a group with the top 15 guys there. I was going against some good guys. I thought I did really well. The coaches complimented me."

Also a standout in basketball and in track and field, Stetler is being recruited only for football right now. He does admit to having two Big Ten schools he liked growing up.

"I liked the Gophers, and I also liked Nebraska too."
