Maryland LB has interest in Colorado

Linebacker working hard before senior season and drawing interest from across the country.

During the process of recruiting its 2012 class, the Colorado football team spent considerable time trying to land prized running back Wes Brown.

Brown, a four-star back from Our Lady Good Counsel High School in Olney, Mary., wound up committing to Maryland. While the Buffs courted Brown, however, one of his teammates took an interest.

Marcel Ngachie, a three-star linebacker in the class of 2013, said he has hope that CU will give him a scholarship offer.

"I would like to," he said. "They've come by the school a lot and I've talked to them a little bit."

Currently, Ngachie holds offers from four schools -- Delaware, Hawaii, Syracuse and Virginia. He is hopeful that Richmond and his hometown Maryland Terrapins will offer, too. He would love for Colorado to join that list.

"Partly because of Wes Brown," he said of his interest in the Buffs. "They recruited him for a while and he used to tell me about it, and the coaches seem like really good people. It's something I would like to look into."

Whether or not the Buffs come through with an offer, Ngachie will continue trying to put him in position to find a top school. The 6-foot, 200-pounder has been hitting the camp circuit and said, "I've been working out real hard, pretty much twice a day, every day."
