Huskies a favorite of Egu

As Washington continues its hunt for top talent, one player they have been focusing on is De La Salle (Concord, Ca.) LB Victor Egu, a 6'3", 232-pounder who can fly around and make plays sideline-to-sideline. caught up with the gifted prospect recently and he updated us on when he will name a top five and where the Huskies currently stand...

"Washington is most definitely a school who I am favoring right now," Egu told "I really like the coaches up there a lot, the school is great and with my brother (Ken Egu) there, that also is a plus too.

"I have been up there a couple of times and I love the city a lot and just the atmosphere around that place. It's a great university and they are for sure going to be in my top five when I name it in a week or two."

Egu has been talking quite a bit with Washington defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi and he said that the Huskies like him at the WIL (weakside) linebacker spot.

"They like the way that I can run and hit," Egu said. "I think they like my intelligence and the way I play the game. I love their defense and I think I could fit in really well there if I decided to go there."

Egu said he has been focusing on several schools but appears to be favoring the likes of Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Boise State, Notre Dame, Cal and UCLA although he said there are others that he likes as well.

"I like all of the schools that have offered and are recruiting me," Egu admitted. "I've been blessed by all of the opportunities, but I've started to narrow it down and those seven are the ones that I've really been focused on and maybe one or two more."

Egu maintains that he plans to take all of his visits and he said he's started to narrow down what he will be looking for in the eventual school/program that he chooses.

"It's a lot of things -- the atmosphere around the program, the education, the defense they run," Egu admitted. "I'm looking for the right fit and a lot of that will go into my official visits. Whoever ends up in my top five, those will be the schools that I visit and how those go will go a long way into helping me make my decision."

We will have more on Egu in the coming weeks and months as he begins to set up his official visits and we will update news as it happens.
