5-foot-11, 180 pound defensive back Jelani Parrish is hoping to that a strong senior season will bring in some offers for him. So far, he has been hearing from several schools over the Midwest.
"I don't have my first offer yet, but I'm hearing from Miami (OH), Kent State, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Harvard."
This summer, the rising senior has been able to attend a couple camps.
"I went to Kent State and Miami's camps. What I wanted to show there were that I'm an asset to have in coverage; that I can stay with my man. Also that I have the speed to cover the fastest of receivers and the height to cover the taller ones. I also want coaches to know that I have plans to succeed with academics and the personality to lead a team."
Something that Parrish thinks will help his case is his ability to play multiple positions.
"I had a lot of versatility last season because I was able to play both outside linebacker and safety. There aren't many people that switch between those two positions."
As for his commitment, the rising senior is hoping to pick up some offers and make his decision before the calendar hits 2013.
"I'd like to commit before the new year, so hopefully by January 1st. That would make everything easier. I would like to visit the schools before I decide because a lot goes into that decision and you need to be comfortable there."
So what is Parrish looking for in a school?
"The most important thing is the prestige of the Business school because I want to study either Finance or Accounting. Then after that the campus size. I believe the nicer the campus, the more naturally inclined you are to be better. And finally, I'd like a diverse campus."
